I Think that Valencia's death was really abrupt. It remembers me of a story I had to read when I was taking the driving course, in this story, the husband had a heart attack and the wife had to go quickly but one of their sons had taken the car so she took a cab with her little son and they crashed with an ambulance because the woman insisted the cab diver to go faster. Then they stepped out of the car and the woman was looking for another cab when she heard that her little son had just been run over by his older brother. When the woman arrived to the hospital they were unable to do anything for his son and for his husband whose ambulance had been crashed by a crazy taxi. Anyways, the death of Valencia seemed too dramatic but still not as dramatic as the story I just summarized before.
I thought it was funny that Billy pretended to be like in a comma when he was in the room with Rumfoord and then suddenly when they talked about Dresden he said he had been there. Also it was entertaining that Rumfoord thought Billy had echolalia I don't get why the narrator keeps on repeating "If you're ever in Cody, Wyoming," ..." just ask for Wild Bob" (188). The author is Wild Bob but I don’t understand why he repeats this so much.
I agree with Tralfamadore’s theory that you should always remember the good moments of life.
It was strange for Billy to find Trout’s book there, however it was amusing how the owners of the store couldn’t believe that Billy really wanted the book and wasn’t interested in looking at the rest of the store. It was strange that both Billy and Montana had the same quote somewhere near them, maybe the Tralfamadores had given those symbols to their parents so that they got used to the idea of living their lives without being able to change them.
The end of the book gives the reader the idea that the book doesn’t really stop happening, it continues happening in different order through eternity. Specially because in the last chapter it ends with: “One bird asked Billy Pilgrim “Poo-Tee-Weet”” (215) and at the end of the first chapter it says exactly the same, giving a circular and continuous effect to the novel.
I think that Trout plays an important role throughout this novel since he indirectly addresses the things that happen to Billy Pilgrim such as the abduction by the aliens which is also described in his book. Maybe Trout has the same ability of Billy of traveling in time and thus, he already has heard Bill's story about the abduction by the Tralfamadorians and him having to stay in a kind of zoo with Montana and having a baby.
